2008 Wimbledon: Federer-Nadal Trilogy

The 2008 Wimbledon Men's Tennis Championships is finally down to one match. And for the third year in a row, tennis fans will be treated to another showdown between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

On one side, there is five-time defending champion swiss Roger Federer. Federer is seeking immortality in grass courts as he seeks to win Wimbledon six straight times. A feat done more than a century ago. Not to mention, Federer's sterling win streak in grass.

I think the primary motivation will be to get back on Nadal who demolished him in the last French Open final. That would also put to rest talks of his assumed decline. There is a noticeable difference in the way I see him serve. There seem to be an additional force he exerts in his serve.

On the other side is the undisputed king of clay, and many pundits and former players think will win, Rafael Nadal. Last year, he made Federer work for the championship by extending him to a five set tie-break. With his recent demolition of Federer, Nadal certainly has the psychological edge in this one. His recent title in grass has convinced many that he is now capable of dethroning Federer in wimbledon and capturing the number 1 world ranking as well.

Nadal has proven that he is the king of clay. It is now Federer's turn to return the favor in the surface that he loves best.

I am gonna root for Federer. And I promised not to jinxed it by not watching like I did in the French Open.
