The NBA would love a blockbuster matchup in June between the Celtics and the Lakers. They will rekindle their old rivalry in the eighties. The subplots and the story lines will abound if this matchup will materialize adding more hype. The hollywood appeal for this is staggering to say the least.
A Lakers- Piston tussel would also revived some old rivalries. Today's Pistons are to a little extent the same with their Bad Boys Era counterpart, but I guess less tamer except probably for Sheed. And in some ways, they (Pistons) would play the part of stopping or slowing down a superstar's quest for glory. In the 80's, Jordan. At present, KB24.
Here's the matchup most fans in general wouldn't love to see. Celtics-Spurs and Spurs Pistons. I bet Commissioner Stern, the NBA and the Broadcasting company are having sleepless night pondering what to do if any of these two matchup will happen. If so, then the championship series will not be as entertaining, except for basketball puritans I guess, because of the way these teams play. Who could forget the ratings of the 2005 Finals? But to be positive about it that one is more competitive than last year.
I hope its a Celtics-Lakers championship series. A Game 7 won on the last shot or possession. Followed by a celebration of the guys in green.
